Creating an exhibition space around furniture was an interesting to make the actual space interactive.

The chair selected was the Cabbage Chair by Nendo-Issey Miyake

The inspiration for the primitive design responds gently to fabrication and distribution costs and environmental concerns, the kinds of issues that face our 21st century selves. Thus, the cabbage chair fits active, optimistic and forward-moving “21st century people”, the kind of people who, to borrow a concept Miyake expressed during a meeting with Nendo, “don’t just wear clothes, but shed their skin”.

Process

Peeling

1.) The paper is wrapped into a cylinder

2.)  Cut vertically halfway down one side

3.) The layers can be peeled back one at a time.

4.)  The representation of a cabbage chair

5.)  Paper forms into chair

6.)  The final form of the chair.

The process of feeling is to make the user feel as one from the beginning to end

Program:

The user interfaces with the recycled fabric washi paper to create art in any shape or form. The peeling action is to make the user experience sensual part of the exhibition. To be able create any art, structure items from the paper as an homage to both Issey Miyakes vision. The experience eludes from day 1 to day 10 of the fabric slowly shrinking and concludes the experience.
